Chapter 1.3

When Jeena came back, she was grinning. Morticia gave her a quizzical look and Leena said with a single raised eyebrow "What, in the name of God, were you doing Jeena Sharma?"

Jeena's already wide grin widened and she held out a piece of paper with an e-mail address and a phone number scribbled on it. She then handed the piece of paper to Morticia and said gleefully "For my dearest friend". Morticia's jaw dropped to quiet a low position while Leena just shook her head, muttering something under her breath.

Just then, the physics teacher, Mrs. Sinha, entered the class room and everyone got back to their new seats.

After physics it was math. Zarif was made a fuss over by the math teacher Mrs. Gulathi and then the black-board was cruelly written on and rubbed about a hundred times in between of which Zarif turned around numerous times to ask something or the other from Jeena. Of this, Morticia was extremely annoyed.

"He's breaking my concentration!" she had explained when asked why she was getting so irritated. But Jeena just smiled. "Hey!" Morticia said, "I didn't know you were enjoying this so much!"

"I am not, in the least, enjoying this!" Jeena said, her smile vanishing like as if it had never been there "This guy is freaking me out! Can't he ask Leena for the time-table and the notebooks and God knows what not?"

Morticia shrugged and looked up at the black board trying to figure out what exactly the teacher was talking about. Apparently, the fact that she had no clue of what was going on showed on her face since Jeena said "I see how much you need to concentrate…"

The next period was second language where some students attended Sanskrit, some Hindi, some French and some German. 9-B (the section in which they were) had second language with 9-A and 9-C. Jeena and Leena stayed back in their class for French while Morticia went to 9-A for Hindi. While she was walking out of the class with Divya, Morticia noticed, with disgust that Zarif was staying back in the class, which meant that he had taken up French - Jeena's subject.

As soon as the French teacher, Mrs. Malik, entered the classroom, she noticed Zarif. She asked him what his name was, where he had come from, whether he had liked the new school so far or not, etc. Finally, she asked him whether he had made any new friends or not. When he replied in the affirmative, she asked him who they were. To that he replied "Sidhant, Vikram and Jeena."

Suddenly, there was silence in the entire room. Everyone turned their heads to see Jeena's expression. However, none of them really could because she had fallen off her seat and landed on the floor. All they could see was Leena, who was sitting next to her, with her jaw almost touching her desk.

"Oh well, that's nice to hear," said Mrs. Malik, "now everyone, please open your note books. I want you to write a postcard to your mother." .

"It's his first day at school and he's already trying to ruin my life!" Jeena was practically screaming her lungs out in the girls' toilet where she had dragged Morticia as soon as she had arrived.

"Will someone please tell me what happened?" Morticia said sounding tired.

"It's all your fault!" Jeena continued to blabber, "if it weren't for your stupid crush on the moron, everything would have just been fine! It is SO all your fault! You-"

"Will you at least tell me what my fault is?" Morticia cut in.

"I'll tell YOU what your fault is," Jeena said pointing an accusing finger at Morticia, "just because YOU had to have this HUGE crush on this guy who turned up a few minutes ago, I get into all of this trouble! Do you have any idea of what happened to me?"

Jeena was screaming by the end of it as Morticia stared at her best friend in astonishment.

"Er…you know what, I would know if you told me…"Morticia said after a second of silence. Just then, Leena entered the girls' toilet, which was on the first floor of block 2. They usually came there to have group talks since no one came there because of its non-functioning toilet seats and its broken mirrors.
