Chapter 1.6

Zarif handed a dazed Morticia her diary and thanked her. Only when Jeena kicked Morticia under the table did she realize that she had to say that he was welcome.

"Huh? Oh yeah, you're welcome."

She was putting her school diary back into her backpack when she heard Zarif's voice.

"By the way," he said, "nice name."

Morticia's school diary dropped to the floor and so did her heart. Fortunately for her, the Geography teacher, Mrs. Bakshi decided to enter the class room right then.

Geography periods had never been more interesting to Jeena. She observed Morticia's eyes that kept straying from Jeena's face during their conversations (since they hardly paid any attention to the teacher) to the seat in front of her. Boy, had Morticia got it bad for this boy. And to think that she had known him only for a couple of hours. Actually, she hardly knew him! I hope Jeena thought she's not attempting at yet another freaky crush.

Just as she was thinking this, there was a knock on the door. A 6th standard girl walked in with a sheet of paper in her hand. She walked to the teacher and showed it to her. The teacher then said that a few students had been called to the staff room by the Hindi teacher. Among the names was Morticia's name. The Hindi teacher wanted to 'talk' to the students who had scored less than 40% in the latest weekly test. And she wanted them with their bags, which could only mean trouble.

Morticia and Jeena decided to meet each other in front of Block 1 and Morticia left.

The bell rang and it was, finally, time to go home for the weekend. Yes, it was rush-hour; the time when every child in the class struggled to free herself or himself from the evil concentration camp. As Jeena and Leena struggled in the war, Jeena felt some one fall against her back-trying to push his way through. "OUCH!" Jeena cried. She twisted her neck to look behind her and saw who it was who had pushed her.

It suddenly started snowing and the normal low temperature of the winter took a deep plunge to about the lowest it had ever been in the town of Alasar, making Jeena's cheeks burn a bright red. And all this sudden climate change occurred because the tall boy with the dark-brown, messy hair that fell on his fore-head in a way that could be called nothing but perfect, was Zack Saxena. It was the Zack Saxena.

By now, you've guessed that she had a crush on him. Well, I won't deny that. He was her first ever crush - of whom no one, I mean, no one, knew. And considering the fact that she probably had the biggest mouth that ever existed, that is saying a lot! But the reason for that was the fact that Morticia hated him…or at least disliked him. Oh, and probably also the fact that, ironically, he was the twin brother of Leena Saxena. He was not the 'hunk' of the school, nor did he have 'the perfect teeth'. In fact, he was one of the 'dorks'. But he still had something that Jeena could not help ignore. Don't ask me what it was, I bet even she doesn't know! Sweet puppy love had struck again!

Morticia was dreaming of rainbows and flying ponies when the Hindi teacher was trying to dictate important questions to them for homework. But she had to snap out of it when she realized that the teacher was staring at her. Thankfully the bell rang before the teacher could say anything. She was heading for Block 1 thinking of how she had barely escaped this time when, BAM! She crashed into someone and dropped the pen she was carrying, which happened to be her favourite fountain pen given three years ago to her by her favourite aunt. She bent down to get it, but whoever it was she had crashed with had picked it up before her. She looked up at a young boy who was, surprisingly, not wearing a uniform, but she was too busy looking at something else to bother about what he was wearing. She was too busy looking at something on his face that she was hardly looking at his face. She was looking at his eyes, the eyes that looked at her like as if they had known her since the beginning of time, the eyes that made her forget that she was actually on the ground and not floating in void nothingness, the eyes that were…purple… ???
